He uses Lara to his benefit, refuses to let her go when she wants to leave, fucks her when it’s convenient for him, and then leaves her. But I’m book 2, his entire character is boiled down to “my wife betrayed me” even after said wife risks everything to save him and the betrayal was not intentional. In the first book, he’s kind and caring, even when he is skeptical of Lara, he respects her. I really enjoyed Lara’s plot with her sisters in The Traitor Queen, but I think Aren Kertell is terrible in the second book. Hahah oh no! This is like my most controversial fandom related opinion (please don’t hate and and I have talked about this at length, and it really comes down to a few key points: ![]()
